The Western Peril 2, by Luís Garcia

yellow peril.

Today, Friday 13 things are going really bad for both superstitious and non-superstitious Europeans facing the very real possibility of getting infected with COVID-19.

If February 21 was when the Italian outbreak occurred, March 13 will be remembered as the turning point day of COVID-19 Pandemic.

Today Italy surpassed China and is now the country with more active cases of COVID-19 in the world:

2020-03-14 00-24-15 Coronavirus Update (Live) 142

Today,  the death toll has passed 5,000.

According to WHO chief, from today on Europe is the center of the coronavirus pandemic.

Today, Wuhan football team left Spain and returned to Wuhan, fearing contamination in Europe. How ironic!

Today, China comes in 27th place in the ranking of new daily cases!

Today, the number of total active cases in the world (67,521) surpassed the previous maximum (60,000) reached 1 month earlier when 99,9% of the cases were from China.

Today, China had 22 new cases. The rest of the world had 9,436 new cases; still counting.

Today, China had 8 new deaths. The rest of the world had 413 new deaths; still counting.

- Guinea

Today we learn that, apparently, Brazilian President Bolsonaro got positive on a COVID-19 test, then negative on a more reliable second test. Still, his press secretary Fabio Wajngarten was diagnosed with COVID-19. And we know Bolsonaro met Trump one week ago

Other important politicians around the world are now being affected  by COVID-19:

How we got here is the question many ask now.

Well, I can't provide all the answers but, if you want to have a quite accurate and resumed perception of what happened, please follow these 3 steps:

FIRST - Watch these 3 very short videos, with dynamic information from the beginning of the outbreak until 20 February (one day before the Italian outbreak).

Until then, the epidemic was very localized, with 99,9% of the cases in China plus a few more cases in 2 dozens of nations in which, most of the days, there were no new cases.

Beginning to February 20

January 2020

February 2020

Outside China, the situation was absolutely stable and under control... until sinophobic Western expats living in China decided (almost) all to go back home (with COVID-19).

SECOND - For what happened after February 21 (the beginning of the Italian outbreak, then European outbreak and, finally, the now world outbreak), please read my article: The Western Peril 1.

THIRD - Check this updated list with the countries from which two-thirds of the world got infected during the last 2 weeks.

Yes, in the first two months we had China plus 20 countries with very stable situations, few cases and rare new cases.

Now, in only 2 weeks, thanks to Western stupidity, Western nihilism, and Western sinophobia, we have two-thirds of the world infected and soon the whole planet:
